The bark ""Wildfire"" departed from New York, embarked slaves in the Congo River, with the intention of selling them in Cuba. However, before it could do so, American anti-slave trade cruisers intercepted the “Wildfire” at sea and conducted her to Key West, Florida, and eventually to Liberia.
